Books to Learn From
Of course there are a zillion new books every year and there are fads and fancies and the latest hot thing. I read many books about health but there is no way I could keep up with everything. Here are some books that I have read and kept and often consult.
A customer called me repeatedly recently and when I told her that there was more information in the books in this list, she said she didn't have time to read, couldn't I give her the gist of it. What's funny is, my ex-husband and son and many others in my life have often said the same thing. So I will give a bigger blurb but after that, you've really got to read the books.
Detoxify or Die by Sherry A Rogers, M.D.
This book has a gloomy title and some horrifying stories and statistics but I learned a lot from it. Mainly that we are building up an incredible number of toxins in our bodies that they don't know how to deal with, from plastics to heavy metals to chemicals. I built an infrared heat bed after reading it to sweat out some of my toxins, so I will appreciate it for ever, for making me well again. I took the detox cocktail every day for many years and that helped with my alkaline balance as well as getting rid of toxins.
Dr Rogers had toxicity sickness herself and cured it. Now she has enormous success in her practice with highly toxic individuals.
Alkalize or Die by Dr Theodore A Baroody
Well, we're all gonna die eventually but this book could help you put off the day. A great book about acid toxicity and how it wears our bodies out before their time. And this problem has such easy solutions, like drinking lemon water or green drinks. After you've eliminated soda and caffeine, of course, but you don't really drink those any more, do you?
Biology of Belief by Bruce Lipton, Ph.D.
This is so fascinating. It's all about cells and how we can affect them with our minds. It's the mind over matter that I have done for years but from the scientific perspective. Although he is a renegade scientist now, they've thrown him out of the old boys' club because he's disproving their dogma about genes.
The Edge Effect by Eric R Braverman, M.D.
Very interesting. This has a series of questions that reveal which brain chemical is dominant in your personality. It explained a lot of people to me. You know how you always wonder why everyone doesn't think like you do? Or is that just me? This book tells you why. This isn't the trite kind of thing you find in a magazine. This really is eye-opening about brain chemistry and what can go wrong with it. His focus is on anti-aging and his recommendations for restoring good brain chemistry run along similar lines to the good diets. He also sells supplements for any lacks you might have so, of course I had to try them. The survey indicated that I was just slightly low in acetyl-choline. But I haven't really noticed any difference after taking the supplement for a month.
Total Health Cookbook and Program by Dr Mercola
This is a good basic book with a metabolic typing program. It also has a questionnaire so that you can determine if you are a carbohydrate type or a protien type. Dr Mercola is a good guy. His website is where I tell people to go for some well-researched alternative medicine information. Unfortunately a marketing expert got hold of him lately and now he's selling everything but the kitchen sink. Ignore the constant pitches and go for the resources.
Ask and It Is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks
I love this book and I love the teachings. Here are some concrete processes you can do to upgrade your reality. And Abraham (the channeled source of the teachings) is quite plain that you can't get to bliss from grief or depression. But you can raise your vibration a step at a time and, if you keep your face in the right direction, you will get to bliss in the end. Just don't give up and turn away. Notice where you are and keep on moving forward.
