Rebounding for Health
You can get a great
workout on the rebounder and stay healthy while doing something that
is really enjoyable and lifts your spirits. Mini-trampolines
came out in the 70's and I've had one ever since. It is the perfect
exercise to give strength to every cell in your body. It was used by
the NASA program to repair astronaut's bones when they came back from
deep space. You can keep one in your office and get up and bounce when
you are feeling tired. It will bring you back to life in just minutes.
Jump before important phone calls or when you want your mind to be sharp.
Now I've found an
overhead system to use with a rebounder that makes rebounding even more
valuable because it adds upper body strengthening and makes even beginners feel safe. Weight training is essential
for your bones as you age and this system uses your own body weight,
moving against gravity, to strengthen your bones. For older people there is a wonderful feeling of safety from having
the trapeze to hold onto.
The system I recommend
is the overhead system by Freedom Spring, together with the gym quality
rebounder from ReboundAir. You
can order both items separately below. The regular overhead system comes
with a doorway bar. The one in the picture to the right is the wall-mount
system.
If you have health issues, like scoliosis,
back problems, overweight, etc. then the complete Freedom Spring system
with the overhead bar and gentler rebounder is best for you. See the
bottom of the page.
I used to recommend the Urban Rebounder Pro
but that company proved to be very unreliable and there were complaints
about the noise level of their rebounders. So now I am back to recommending
the ReboundAir, the first rebounder I ever had. Al Carter, the founder,
has written the definitive books on rebounding and his family company
is reliable and honest.
There are cheaper rebounders on the market
but this is one area where you get what you pay for. The cheap rebounders
have been known to cause nerve damage because the bottom of the bounce
is too jerky - they have cheap straight springs. The reboundairs are
worth every nickel. Go to ReboundAir to check out the huge amount of information on their site but come back
here to buy because my price is lower.
The overhead part
of the Freedom Spring System is an incredible new addition to the practice
of rebounding. It attaches in a doorway or you can buy the wall
mount as I did in the picture above. It has elastic bands and a stabilizing
bar. For beginners the stabilizing bar makes
you feel incredibly safe. For advanced users it adds the ability
to do some moves that would be awkward without it, like back kicks to
increase the strength of the back extensors and the whole spine. Rebounding
also improves balance even when you hold onto the bar as you do in the
beginning. Then you can use the elastic bands to do all the shoulder and arm strengthening
exercises you need. The elastic bands come in different strengths so
you can move up as you get stronger.
There is a rebounder
that comes with the Freedom Spring system and it is great for people
who are overweight and sedentary, new to exercise, or have joint problems.
It is a much softer bounce than the others. So beginners should
consider that whole system instead of the ReboundAir. You can go here
to find out about the Freedom Spring - http://www.freedomspring.com/- but come back here to buy because
I have it cheaper than anyone.
I've been testing the overhead system along
with the ReboundAir for about 5 months now and I love it. I do a lymph
bounce for two minutes right out of bed. Then I do two 6-10 minute segments
a day about 90 minutes after meals to help with my blood sugar. There
is a complete segment about rebounding on the Osteoporosis videos.

ReboundAir, no-fold
version - no stabilizer bar, you won't need it with the overhead
system. With the overhead system added you can vary your workout remarkably
without videos. Just put on some great music and go for it. Same info as above except that this one does not fold. If I want mine
out of the way I just lean it against the wall. The trouble with the folding ones is that you put them away and then
they are no good to you. You need to have the rebounder staring at you
all day long sending you the "Please bounce on me" message.
Price - $187- plus
$33- shipping. Shipping is higher because it is oversize. Cheapest
price on the net. Alaska and Hawaii are $30- extra shipping.
Plus the Freedom Spring Overhead Stabilizing and
Resistance System Rebounding
by itself is not available to everyone. It seems like it is best suited
for people that feel confident enough to bounce in an unsupported manner.
It is unlikely that an 84 year old woman with a balance problem or a
typical stroke survivor would ever go near a rebounder without this
overhead system. The safe feeling this overhead system imparts makes
rebounding available to everyone.
The Overhead Strength Training and Stabilization System
consists of a bar that remains stationary in a doorway, from which a
second bar is suspended with adjustable straps for the purpose of stabilization
and use in various exercises. Also suspended from the stationary bar
are three sets of resistance cords with hand grips, in varying degrees
of strength.
We placed easy-to-open clamps on the resistance cords
to be easily attached to the overhead system or to the Bouncerciser
itself. Placing the resistance cord on the Bouncerciser, allows more
movements exercising the upper body, and toning additional sets of muscle
groups.
OVERHEAD RESISTANCE SYSTEM: Stationary
Bar, expands to a 25" to 40" doorway. Cradles are screwed into the doorway
that hold the stationary bar. Cradles have three holes for screws and
adhesive for more reinforcement and to aid in proper installation.
The Overhead Resistance System Includes the Doorway Mount
PLUS:
Freedom Bar: 23" long, steel, cushioned hand grips Adjustable nylon straps with two buckles on each strap. Expands from
8 in. to 22 in. Three sets of resistance cords with hand grips: Light, Medium, Heavy
- all 25" long, from the clamp to clamp, not including the hand grip
Three rubber-coated rings that hold the Freedom Bar and attachments
Fourth metal ring (uncoated) holds the instruction card Owners Manual - 24 pages Hanging Instruction Card, 5" x 10", double-sided
Price - $140- plus $25- shipping.
Cheapest price on the net.
If you don't have a doorway to
mount the overhead system then you need to buy the Wall Mount Overhead
System.
It looks a bit like wood in the picture but it is all
metal. The Overhead Resistance System Includes the Wall Mount PLUS:
Freedom Bar: 23" long, steel, cushioned hand grips Adjustable nylon straps with two buckles on each strap. Expands from
8 in. to 22 in. Three sets of resistance cords with hand grips: Light, Medium, Heavy
- all 25" long, from the clamp to clamp, not including the hand grip
Three
rubber-coated rings that hold the Freedom Bar and attachments Fourth metal ring (uncoated) holds the instruction card Owners Manual - 24 pages Hanging Instruction Card, 5" x 10", double-sided
This will also include the doorway bar because it would
cost the distributor more to take it out of the package.
Price - $165- plus $25- shipping. Cheapest price on the net.

Testimonial: I can't tell you how much I loved the bouncing on the Freedom Spring.
My old rebounder was too rough for me. By holding onto the bar and
using the bands, it took the pressure of my back and I didn't get
that jarring nerve pain. What a difference. I haven't been this pain
free in YEARS. Now I tend to overdo so I'm going to listen to my body
as best I can and be gentle gentle gentle.. I've been getting ready
for my new system since I ordered it by using my old rebounder 3 times
a day plus use my large trampoline but still, when I used the system,
I had a work out I didn't expect and wow, did I sweat! I still feel
soooooo good! I am so glad I bought this from you! Mary
